My classroom is an ethnically diverse, lower socioeconomic third grade with a high population of students who are new to this country and have never been in school before.
Many of my students have limited English proficiency. They need to build sight word recognition and fluent reading skills.
Books on tape provide the perfect opportunity for my students to hear examples of fluent reading and to follow along with a book to build sight word recognition.
By funding my proposal, you will provide students with limited home resources the opportunity to experience reading in a fun, non-threatening way while building literacy skills.
