My Students
Thirty-three 4th graders will return to Loring Community School this fall. My school is located in a sweet community of North Minneapolis. Loring has been under construction since early spring and will be completed late September. Renovations include air conditioning and a new more secure main office. My diverse students come from a variety of socioeconomic levels, cultures and have a wide range of academic and social achievement levels. I can not be more excited to meet each and every student, build strong relationships and watch them gain a love of lifelong learning!
My Project
Students in my room will be afforded time using in class technology to listen to auditory literature, complete research for Social Studies and Science projects, play educational games to practice basic skills in Math. Our Listening Learning Lab fits right into our class schedule, provides struggling learners to access materials using headphones. Lyrics to Learn has been piloted in my classroom pairing non-fiction with jazzy lyrics. Students are highly motivated using technology to access information for research study. Math games will be easily available for independent practice of skills to assure mastery. Adding headphones to our Learning Lab is a great opportunity to maintain calm classroom and increase learning.
