My students each need their own pair of headphones and alcohol wipes to disinfect headphones in our classroom so they are fully immersed in lessons that build comprehension and 21st-century skills.

My Students
Our class is made up of 2 teachers, 3 paraprofessionals and 27 students in a 4th grade Integrated Co Teaching Class. We have general education students as well as special education students, so we have a wide range of performance levels in our classroom.
Our neighborhood is comprised of low income families, and many of our students live in public housing.
100% of our students receive free lunch and quite a few of our students are currently living in homeless shelters. Our small school is located in the neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York, and we are a Title I school. We are aware that many of our students are performing below grade level so we need a variety of resources to meet their needs.
My Project
My students are lucky enough to spend their 4th grade year in an ICT classroom. We are constantly on the lookout for new tools that our students can use to enhance their learning. That's where the technology tools come into play.
Our students would benefit tremendously from having a quality, sturdy pair of headphones so that they can independently listen to videos, lessons, and other activities on their devices.
Many students in our classroom have special needs that prevent them from accessing information in a traditional way. These students rely on their other senses to make sense of and process information.
Having the knowledge to implement lessons specific to every child's needs in our classroom, benefits them tremendously . However, when not every child can afford to purchase their own headphones, they lose out on valuable instructional resources. In this day and age of 21st century Learning, our students cannot afford to lose a single second of learning! Having their own pair of headphones would give our students the opportunity to listen to lessons and activities on their devices in all subject areas- reading, writing, language, math, science, social studies, financial literacy and character education. Please help our auditory learners hear their learning!
