My Students
Helping a student become a more fluent reader can be difficult if they don't know what they sound like when they read. Students continue to read like robots even if they hear good examples, because they don't hear themselves.
My students come from homes where they don't always get to hear someone read them a good ol' story.
They aren't exposed to stories told with wonderful expression and enthusiasm. Students in this school are underprivileged in more aspects than not hearing a story, but are still expected to perform to the same ability as someone in an educationally supported environment.
My Project
These microphones will allow students to use technology in the classroom by allowing them to read a selection. After students read the selection they are able to listen to how they read. In the future, they will be able to listen to the progress they make, thus improving their confidence and their overall reading ability.

Even though they live and go to school in a low income neighborhood, does not mean that they can't start making a change for their future now!
