Listening Centers Students Can Use

My students need 2 sets of wireless headphones that they can use independently for their listening centers.

My Students

Children love to listen to stories and it helps them develop a love of reading, but they are unable to untangle cords. With these headphones, children would be able to listen to stories and read along each and every day.

My classroom is a dual-language kindergarten, filled with 42 4-5 year olds.

These students are developing literacy, and more importantly a love of reading. They love to hear stories in both English and French. The classroom is located in a public school in Brooklyn, NY. It is a Title 1 school.

My Project

I'm requesting 2 sets of wireless headphones. These headphones will allow 4-5 year olds to use the listening center independently, assuring that they will be able to listen to and follow along with stories each and every day. I'm requesting 2 sets because there are 2 languages represented in my dual-language classroom and this way groups can listen to stories in both languages.

Having headphones like these will enable students to use listening centers every day.

This is important because hearing stories helps students to develop a love of literacy and following along helps them to connect what they are hearing with the written word. I hope to extend this project in the classroom by making puppets of their favorite characters so that students can act out the stories after they listen to them.
