Help me give my kindergarten students a listening center with headphones and read-along books. My students absolutely love having books read to them. If I could, I would read to them all day long! Sadly that is not possible, but having a listening center would allow them to read more books on their own without me.
Having a listening center with headphones will allow my students to explore a variety of books independently.
Currently we have a CD player that does not allow headphones to be connected. Instead, the students just listen as a group during our center time. The students love to listen to the stories, however it is distracting to the other students in class doing other things. So not only will it allow some students to listen to the stories, but it can help other students in the class focus more on what they should be doing. Win, win!
