I am at a small rural school Oklahoma. This is my first year in 1st Grade after teaching for over 17 years. I am loving it, but I need your help.
First Grade students learn to recognize and manipulate letters in ways that produce understandable insight to words.
To support my students in word recognition, syntax, and comprehension, my classroom will greatly benefit from a listening center.
This center of headphones, radio, and books sets will let my students see the printed words, hear the sounds that makes the words, and feel the fluency as part of the reading practice.
As a result of this, my students will develop a desire to read on their own for pleasure and learning. This activity will help them be fluent readers in a shorter time, broaden their interests, and encourage intellectual development.
