This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We provide developmentally appropriate learning for four and five year olds in a play based program. Our program goals are to help build and foster social skills, support social emotional health, and provide foundations that will carry them through their educational journey.

Eighty-five percent of my preschoolers are attending school on income based scholarships with the other 15% being special needs.

Our preschool is based in a high poverty, low income neighborhood at a title one elementary school.

We believe that through quality education we can meet the educational needs of children and those of future generations.

My Project

This project will provide my preschoolers access to language rich experiences! The few tapes we have are so well loved that we can no longer use some of them. Having CDs for existing favorites will give them continuous access to their favorite books while also introducing them to new, never heard before material with new stories and CDs.

Audiobooks and Books on tape/CD can help build and enhance vital literacy skills such as fluency, vocabulary, language acquisition, pronunciation, phonemic awareness, and comprehension—skills that often boost reading scores in higher grades.
