Listening Center 4 Learning Gaps

My Students

I teach a special education resource classroom in a Title 1 Turnaround school. My students have a wide range of abilities and needs. Some disabilities include autism, congitive impairments, ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia. All of my students are working significantly below grade level in both math and reading.

One thing we all have in common is a love learning!

My students learn through reading, center activities, technology including tablets and computers, and through collaboration with each other. Each center is tailored to meet their individual needs and fill learning gaps.

My Project

My students are 2- 4 years below grade level (5th grade students with 1st grade reading levels and 2nd grade math skills). In order to successfully fill their learning gaps, students need materials they can use independently.

The listening center will be used to provide students access to text they cannot read on their own.

These include grade level non-fiction texts in social studies and science they would not otherwise have read.

With the use of the workbooks, students will be building their skills to fill reading gaps. Explicit phonics skill lessons will be followed with independent practice tailored to students individual skill gaps.
