This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember how much you loved someone reading to you when you were younger? My students' listening workstation will not only be a way for them to hear their favorite stories being read to them, but will also help with their own journey as emerging readers!
My students are a curious group of learners who are currently in kindergarten.
My students attend a Title 1 (high poverty) school in Texas and face many obstacles in their young lives. Unfortunately for many of my students, school is the only safe structured place they have in their lives. But even through the difficulties, they face they are happy and eager to learn!
My Project
I am requesting various read-along books with CDs to foster their reading journey. In the listening workstation, the students will be able to hear their favorite stories read to them as they follow along in their book. As they are learning to read, the students must be immersed in literature through independent reading, listening to reading, and word work. Creating this station is imperative in their success as a life long lover of reading!
Support for my project means my students will have an essential component in their reading journey.
It will not only help build their confidence in reading, but enhance the many ways they can read with emotion and inflection. I want to create a passion for reading in my students that will stay with them as they grow.
