This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading is the heart of our classroom. We focus a lot of our lessons on what we are reading about this week. We have traveled to Antarctica and learned all about penguins and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and learned all about the great things that he has done all through the pages of great books. These are just a couple of the adventures that we have had this year and there are still so many more to come.
My students are excited to learn and have a great love for books!
They love going into our reading center and cozying up with a reading buddy (stuffed animal) and a good book. They love reading to each other. They also love helping their classmates when they are struggling with reading. They are excited to go on new adventures and learn new things through the pages of a good book.
My Project
These books will be used in our listening center. Students will be able to follow along as the books are read to them on a CD. They will be exposed to new and classic books while hearing examples of fluent reading. Listening to fluent reading is a great way to show students what it should sound like when they read aloud.
The children enjoy hearing stories, which helps their love of reading grow!
Stories also increase their vocabulary and introduce them to new concepts, broadening their understanding of the world. These books will also allow my students to be introduced to stories that they have not heard at home, while the CDs will expose them to the joy of being read to.
