My Students
Stop, look and listen! Do you hear that? It's a book coming to life through the headphones and helping create a lifetime love for reading!
My class is comprised of 10 boys and 10 girls whose enthusiasm for learning is contagious!
They are very eager to be introduced to new things. The students are in love with technology and can't wait to use the computers so that they can hear stories, work on math skills and research science and social studies topics.
My class is part of a Title One school and are technology limited at home. Many students do not own or have access to a computer or personal tablets. We have a great need for technology to expose children to the latest 21st century learning skills!
My Project
While the students love to read and practice their reading on the computers, we are limited with only 4 computers that need new headphones.
My students were recently challenged to look more closely at music and how we read the words to the songs. The children quickly realized that many of their favorite songs have the very important sight words that they are working on learning. By listening to the way a word is pronounced and reading how it is used on paper, students are not only exposed to more reading materials but the various texts we can read.Readers will be challenged regardless of their reading level in a less intimidating setting. All students will benefit from the listening center. My students need a listening center that includes 8 headphones, splitter for the headphones and a CD boombox.
Donations made to secure a listening center will help expose children to technology and various ways that reading is incorporated into daily life.
