My Students

We use the iPads daily in our kindergarten classroom for many different kinds of learning. When all 26 students are using the iPads, the classroom gets very noisy. Having headphones to plug in would cut down on the noise and make our learning even more individualized.

I have a group of 26 students (16 boys and 10 girls) who are so excited about technology.

They can't get enough time on the iPads and can't wait to see what app they are going to use next. Many of the apps have engaging music and instructions that keep the students on task. In addition, students use the iPads to record themselves or listen to books at their instructional level. Headphones would allow them to block out extraneous noise and keep them focused on what is coming from their iPad.

My Project

It is amazing what kindergartners can do on the iPad. We are constantly learning together and finding new apps. Our activities range from practicing reading at their instructional level, creating iMovies, writing and illustrating science books using Book Creator, and other activities that align with Common Core Standards. With 26 students in a classroom using apps, sometimes it is difficult to concentrate. Some activities are best worked on as a partnership, but for the individual learning apps, headphones would definitely keep students on track and engaged.

21st Century Learning, technology, and Common Core Standards are the buzz words in education right now.

Using and navigating iPads is so natural for this generation. We are fortunate at our school to have 13 iPads which we share among the kindergarten classes. When my students use them, their learning is transformed to a whole new level. Having headphones to use with the iPads would further engage and support each child's individual learning.
