My Students

Second grade is a year where students really start to take off in their reading. It is so fun to watch! My students are eager to learn and show off their new found skills that they have been working hard on, years before stepping into my classroom. My students come to school, ready to learn each day.

It is our goal to improve fluency in our reading this year.

As my students continue to become better readers, they are working hard to make their reading smoother and start using expression to enhance their reading. Fluency helps bridge between word recognition and comprehension.

Our classroom is a safe place for all students. Students encourage each other to become better and learn more, each day. Our motto is...WORK HARD, BE KIND!

My Project

As my students become better readers, now is the time to really work on developing their fluency. Giving students the opportunity to have a listening center will help them to hear what fluent reading sounds like, introduce them to books they might not otherwise read, and learn new vocabulary. Listening to reading helps kids decode words they may not know and teaches critical thinking skills at the same time.

By donating to our project you will help increase our reading fluency and enjoy the love of reading.

I am asking for individual CD players with headphones and new listening center books. These will be used during our guided reading block, daily. While I am working with students, students have tasks they are completing, listening to reading being one of the activities they are completing. Having individual CD players allows students to listen to stories that interest them.
