My students need phonics phones and a phonics puzzle to help them become better decoders.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Mackle's classroom raised $185

My Students
We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.
The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!
You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!
In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.
My Project
It is essential that all Kindergarten students develop phonemic awareness. This is why we sing, read poems and play silly word games every day. These phonics phones will help students really focus in on the sounds they are making with their mouths. And best of all - students love them! They are an integral part of our writing block, when students need to stretch out their sounds to write new words. We have only a few of them in our classroom and there is constant arguing over who gets to use one. Every student in the classroom would benefit from these phones, not just my struggling readers. These phones would be used on a daily basis and help every child improve their writing.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
