Listen Up: Headphones Help with Engagement

My Project

English for many middle schoolers is not a class that ranks high atop the list of “exciting classes.” Keeping students engaged is a regular battle. One thing that helps greatly is to supplement our learning with online sources be it educational videos, books that are recorded online for struggling readers, district-wide apps, or interactive games with cool graphics and audio.

Unfortunately, headphones are needed to access these treasures, and most of my students cannot afford them.

With access to headphones, my students would be able to learn at their own pace and without distractions. My special needs learners would especially benefit by having the ability to hear books read aloud.

These headphones will help my students to participate in extension activities that will promote higher levels of literacy.
