My Project

Newport News Public Schools is a one-to-one school and provides students with Chromebooks that they take home and bring to class in order to complete their work through our Canvas Learning Management System. Teachers are able to assign creative and tech savvy lessons that are completed both in person and at home through a Blended Learning Model.

In order for students to be successful and learn at their own pace many of the component parts for lessons include video and audio elements.

I teach at an Alternative School for students who have been suspended, expelled, and face criminal charges in the community. We require a uniform and school supplies that many of our student families struggle to provide due to limited incomes and availability of resources.

One of the most important supplies that we need students to have are quality headphones. When families are unable to provide these items, the teachers pay for it out of our own pocket. I would love to provide my students with headphones that will last the rest of the year so they can listen, learn, and create technology enhanced projects for my Social Studies class. I hope to empower students to be College, Career, and Citizen ready as they venture out into the world and become productive contributors to society.
