This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Nothing is more powerful than knowledge. I want to teach my students that bullying is wrong. I feel this is especially important for my Kindergarteners, since many of my students are attending school for the first time. I want to build a strong foundation of character skills.
I am privileged to teach 21 Kindergarten students.
They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and come from low-income households. All the students at the school receive free lunch and also qualify for free after-school programs. Most of my students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have many opportunities to participate in academically enriching activities outside of my classroom.
My Project
The book "Bullying in Schools" will serve as fantastic tool to help educate my students about how to treat each other. I would like to do everything possible to ensure my students are set up to succeed in school. Having an iPod touch will help my students stay engaged during our morning circle time, calendar time, and throughout the day with transitional songs, while exposing them to a new technology. We are also requesting cases to provide my students with unlimited resources to encourage new science and math and literacy skills. The iPod has so many applications that pinpoint specific needs and my kids would be able to use them accordingly. Having the iPod would maximize student-learning interest and maintain the students' attention and focus.
We need to start standing up to bullies and it all begins with knowledge.
Research has shown how important it is to provide multiple learning strategies for all students to learn. Music and movement are especially important in order to keep young children engaged. I am asking for the book "Bullying in Schools" and an iPod so that we can have instructional songs to enhance students' learning.
