I am a first grade teacher teaching in a school with primarily English Language Learners in a low income neighborhood.

Families in this community rely heavily on schools to help strengthen their children’s English language skills. Parents are recent immigrants who work long hours simply to make ends meet and hardly have time to learn English; thus they're unable to help their children practice English at home. Moreover, these students not only have to learn a second language, they also need to keep up with their academic studies, compounding an already difficult and frustrating situation at home.

Portable cassette and CD players will enable my students to listen to read-along books at home so they can listen to English and improve their reading, speaking, and listening skills

You will make learning English more enjoyable for my students by having them listen and read these stories at home.
