My Students

Who doesn't love a great story? I have 22 second grade students that love listening to and reading stories. Our classroom needs a bookcase to hold our classroom library as well as supplies to use in a listening center.

My second grade students are energetic hardworking children that love to learn.

They enjoy listening to and reading stories. They come from a variety of family types and economic levels. Our school is a Title I school which means that a majority of the students qualify for reduced or free lunch programs.

My Project

Students love being read to. I read to them as often as I can but they can get additional reading and listening time with a listening center. Second grade students are building the necessary skills to be good readers. These tools will give them practice tracking print along with increasing reading expression and fluency. We also need a bookcase to store the books for our classroom library books.

Reading is one of the most important skills a child can learn.

A listening center models fluent reading. Multiple children would be able to listen to many favorite stories they enjoy. These materials help students improve comprehension, vocabulary, sequencing and retelling.
