My Students

My school is in an urban area, and it is classified as a low-performing school due to attendance and low test scores. Our school is able to provide us with some items to create projects; however, resources are limited.

We are learning and growing in our Early Childhood Developmentally Delayed Classroom.

The students in my class have all been diagnosed with a disability. They range in age from 3 to 5. Although there are many activities we struggle with, we enjoy playing in centers as we increase our social skills.

My Project

I teach a great bunch of preschoolers, they enjoy books and songs. They love looking at picture books and eagerly await story time. I'm looking to create a listening center where the students can enjoy listening to their favorite stories during center and small group time. A CD player with books and CDs is a simple way for students to select a favorite story and listen independently. The book set will allow us to rotate the selections, so the kids don't get bored. Having headphones will allow this center to operate during peak learning times without other students being affected.

Listening skills are an important part of communication.

Many of the students in my class have communication delays. A listening center will give them another opportunity to experience language, while doing an activity they enjoy. I love exposing the students to as much literature and songs as possible. Please help me make our classroom a well rounded learning experience for all of the students.
