My students need 1 Stereo Cassette/Cd Listening Center, and 1 Big Book and CD for the book "Under the Sea".

This project is fully funded

Kindergarten is the foundation on which all future learning is built. I have the priviledge to teach 16 kindergartners who are from predominately low socio-economic backgrounds. For most of these students, school is the only place that they listen to stories.

I have a wide range of abilities, varying from students who are already on the verge of reading to those who struggle to write their own names. One Center that all of the students enjoy and can benefit from is the Listening Center. Unfortunately, my old cassette player is no longer working. We are in need of an updated version- CDs!

I will need a Stereo/CD Listening Center that 4 students can listen to at the same time. I would also like to start them off with a Big Book and CD titled "Under The Sea" to go with a favorite theme we do during the year. I would eventually like to transfer my listening library from cassettes to CDs. Research has shown the benefits of listening to stories. I read to them several times a day and this can help me get one more story in!

The Listening Center is one of the most important centers in a literacy-based Kindergarten. With my current cassette-playing Listening Center no longer working, you could help bring back a vital Center to our room.
