This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is very busy! My students are very active and have tons of energy. Because of this, we do many hands-on learning activities. My students love to learn. They also love to read and listen to music.

I have twenty six and seven year olds in my classroom.

They are all very sweet, happy, and extremely active kids! They love to learn and try new things. We belong to a STEM focused charter school. The mission of my school is to foster pride in academic achievement for all students. We strive to provide the students with an environment to learn and be successful in a safe and orderly school. We do a lot of hands-on activities with our students and the kids love to think outside of the box.

My Project

I am requesting one Listen & Learn Phonics Activity Program and 1 Listen & Learn Letter Sounds Activity Program, as well as two listening centers. I am requesting items that are all designed to help first grade students build literacy and learn to read or improve their reading abilities. With the Listen & Learn Phonics Activity Program, students will pop in a CD and then follow the step-by-step lessons to build phonemic awareness in an involving and interactive way! This kit covers everything from long and short vowels to blends and digraphs. The second program we are requesting for this grant is the Listen and Learn Letter Sounds Activity Program. This kit, like the first one, is a self-checking, interactive and fun skill builder. This kit will especially benefit the lower students in the first grade classes as it focuses on the easier skills for first grade. Students just follow the step-by-step lessons to identify beginning & ending sound,s or short & long vowel sounds for every letter of the alphabet!

Both learning sets will be fun, interactive, differentiated activities for all of the first grade classes to utilize for both centers time, RTI and Enrichment Time, and tutoring sessions.

These fun interactive kits will benefit my students by helping them build their phonemic development, fluency and comprehension as well as other fundamental literacy skills.
