Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the distinct pleasure of working with some of the most creative, dynamic, special children. These students are often overlooked. They struggle to use their voices and make their presence known.

Often, these beautiful children quietly move through the school system without anyone ever truly hearing their voice.

I am on a quest to change that. As an educator, counselor, parent, and former youth/student, I see the lifelong effects that silence can have on one's self-esteem.

I created a group for my elementary students called Lions, Tigers and Bears. We start off using our voices as loudly as possible when introducing ourselves. This is also supported throughout the classrooms. We are working to get resources to help our groups succeed. In doing so, we want to be able to quickly print out our materials in color, laminate some of our awesome work for display, and attach our selected videos to the larger TV for easier display during group sessions.

As I am working to teach these students self-worth in display form, I want to thank you for your heart-led support in advance. You would love my "Littles."
