This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hungry for supplies, and my biggest challenge is securing desperately needed supplies for my classroom. I think of my students who will benefit from the receipt of these supplies and thank the Donor's Choose program for this opportunity.

Unfortunately, my students come from low-income families that cannot afford to buy the necessary supplies for assignments.

In addition, the limited school funds and my limited personal funds, prevent me from purchasing these supplies. Therefore, these issues affect my students' ability to complete their projects successfully.

My Project

My students will use the flash drives donated by Donors Choose to copy their essays they write at home. Then the students will use the toner cartridge for my laser printer to print these essays from the flash drives. Also, the students will use the colored construction paper for figurative language posters and plot storyboards of the short stories we read. They will create these story boards by analyzing and evaluating the characters and events in the stories. In addition, my students will use the red file folders for their writing portfolios and other class assignments. My students will read the Harry Potter books donated by Donors Choose. I have a Harry Potter book club, so the students will read the books and then give oral presentations on them.

Receiving this donation of toner, books, flash drives, paper, folders, and other supplies will help my students feel empowered because they will have the supplies they need to be successful.

They will not be embarrassed because they can't afford to buy their own supplies.
