Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, is an evidence-based framework for supporting students' social-emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. At FES, the PBIS system is used, wherein every stakeholder is able to promote and reinforce prosocial behaviors and high academic standards. Students understand that when they practice the targeted character trait, are "caught" doing the right thing, and faithfully follow class rules and expectations, they might be rewarded with "Lion Bucks," which can be redeemed for small prizes at the end of each month. The students strive to be their best regardless of the reward, but the positive reinforcement keeps the school climate and culture positive and affirming. Our first project got us going, this one will ensure its operation through the fall.
