My Students
My Kindergarten classroom is located in the heart of the city of Seattle. My students are compromised of fabulous children from very diverse backgrounds.
My students come from all over the world.
My Kindergarten classroom contains beautiful children who speak several different languages and represent several continents. My students are active, full curiosity, and love to learn.
The majority of the children bring their lunch and snack from home. They have strict dietary needs, have specific health requirements that do not allow them to eat school lunch . Many children have cultural reasons for bringing their own food from home. The fridge would allow food to be safely stored for the children.
My Project
The addition of a compact refrigerator, freezer and microwave would provide comfort, food health safety, standards and a wealth of learning opportunities for my Kindergarten students.
My students would be able to put their snack items in the refrigerator to keep things at a safe cool temperature. We could use the microwave to safely heat their lunches and snack to a safe temperature. It would allow children a healthier choice in bringing their own lunch and snacks from home.
Ice packs could be stored in the freezer component in case a child had a small scrape. It would provide ice to an injury instantly as they were sent to the school nurse. The ice packs are comforting to a Kindergarten child who may have a small scrape on their knee
Lastly, we could use the freezer and compact refrigerators and microwave to cook and create multicultural dishes that link to their family heritage.
The donors choose materials are greatly needed to help the students have healthier snack options and to help motivate the students in learning to read simple children's cookbooks.
The step by step following of instructions for cooking will help all students excel in their reading achievement.
We can create a classroom cookbook based on the many heritages that the children represent. The addition of a compact fridge and microwave will positively impact 54 Kindergarten children.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
