This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! Their enthusiasm for learning never ceases to amaze me. They work hard every day, staying engaged with hands-on activities and games that help them practice their skills and increase their knowledge. I love giving them the tools they need to succeed. We are a low socioeconomic area and highly diverse school in Central California. Nearly all of my students' learning happens at school. Most of my students have not traveled beyond our city walls. We are a small school with a big heart!
My Project
These number line and card sets will give my students a chance to build number sense using rational numbers. Sixth graders must be able to compare and order rational numbers, but they often struggle with knowing how fractions, decimals, and negative numbers fit on a number line. This number line and card system will provide my students with the tools they need to learn and practice number sense through direct instruction, hands-on centers, peer teaching, and independent practice. With your generous help, my students will be able to master this major standard and apply their new skills in real-world problem-solving.
