This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Students are eager to learn new music and routines for their next performance.

My students are a mixture of 9th - 12th graders who are eager learners and members of the marching band, drumline, and color guard at a High School.

The students are from a school with limited resources. My students rehearse almost everyday after school to supplement the time they may have during class.

My Project

My students need lyres, reeds, flag bags and a stand cart to store the music stands. I have several music stands filling up space in the back of the room. With the purchase of an additional stand cart i will be able to free up space when the stands are not needed and transportation will be easier. My beginning as well as my advanced students are always in need of reeds. Having a steady supply will ensure that each student is able to participate at every class. Learning new music is a challenge and having lyres with music during performances helps my students play with more confidence. The members of the color guard at times take the flags home on the bus. With each member being able to store their equipment safely in a bag it will become safer for both my students and the equipment they carry around.

My students will be able to able to focus on the learning of music more and less on worrying about materials available to them or the lack of materials.

The materials will help my students in building confidence during their performance.
