This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need choices! My students have learning disabilities inhibiting them from learning in the classroom the same way as many of their peers. Textbooks and curriculum guides are not helping them to reach their fullest potential. Through the use of games, students will learn concepts with ease.

My students are in a high poverty, low income area in New York.

They work very hard and are deserving of the best materials and teaching instruction. With limited funding this school year, and a change in curriculum across content area due to the common core, resources and materials are needed to meet the new standards, and each students' individual needs in my resource room. My students struggle with learning disabilities and require a more hands on approach.

My Project

Help make a difference in the lives of so many children! The phonics games will help my students to learn to read fluently. Often students need motivation and confidence to learn... What better way then with a game? The file folder games will help my students to improve their reading and writing skills for upper grades. Providing materials for kindergarten to third grade requires a lot of time and money. Help to provide students with opportunities to learn through play. Concepts taught through these games are those necessary in life and test taking strategies. Let's making learning fun, with meaning, and less about teaching to the test.

My resource room has limited space. With a large number of students seen, each with their own individual needs, storage space is limited. These resources do not take up a lot of space, yet, they provide an enormous amount of information for students to learn in a meaningful way that will leave a strong impact on them. These skills are necessary for life long skills. Lets bring the fun back into teaching!
