Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Open a world of possibilities in a garden. My students enjoy growing flowers, fruits and vegetables in our school garden, however, it is getting difficult to do so because we are in need of new tools, and gardening equipment.

My students are energetic and curious four year-olds.

They love to learn new concepts and are always asking questions. They attend a public pre-K through 6th grade school in an urban setting. My students are mostly from low socioeconomic backgrounds and all qualify for free or reduced school lunch.

My Project

These resources will enable my students to work in, and fully benefit from, our school garden. The students will be able to grow seedlings in the greenhouse and transplant them to the garden beds. They will also be able to use the tools to keep up the garden and to harvest their bounty. The students will use the student magnifying lenses to develop their observation skills as they investigate the many insects and plants that call our garden home. The students will be able to learn about nutrition, health, science (specifically earth and life sciences), and cooperation through the use of these resources in our school garden.

Your donations will enable my students to develop their green thumbs.

They will be able to learn how a seed grows into a plant in hands-on lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of lives.
