This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager and excited to try new things. They quickly learn that in their gifted pullout class, I will not go through directions step by step with them. I will depend on them to figure things out. My confidence in their ability to solve problems allows them to develop their own self-confidence.
My students crave hands-on learning opportunities.
As students in a Title I school, they often do not have as many learning life experiences as other students. When given access to new situations, they love to try different things until they get the desired result.
My Project
The Gears! Gears! Gears! Machines in Motion sets will allow my younger students to continue their work in mechanical engineering. My gifted students love hands on experiences, and especially my younger students. We have been working with building sets, and gear sets to explore engineering concepts. The Machines in Motion set will be perfect for them to apply what they have learned about how gears work.
My lil' engineers love things that move, and this set will be an exciting way for them to use engineering to create machines that move.
The sets will allow them to use their problem solving skills in a way that will be highly motivating to them.
