My Students
Our class motto is "Bully-Free is the Way to Be!" My students have been doing a great job with following this motto, but they still need to be educated about bullying.
I have a FABULOUS class of 25 fourth graders in Georgia.
We are a group 50% boys, 50% girls. We are a mixture of all different races and nationalities. A large percentage of my students qualify for free/reduced lunch. They are an eclectic mix of students, but they blend well together.
I haven't taught a class this large in many years, but with budget cuts come larger class sizes. It becomes more difficult to meet everyone's needs when you have a larger class... Donors Choose helps to provide extra classroom supplies and extras for my students to use.
My Project
I am requesting 22 copies of "Bullying in Schools" book from AKJ books. We also need a bully-prevention kit in a jar to gain student interest in the subject. An Ipod is also necessary to connect the bully prevention techniques in a way that connects to their lives. An Ipod would require my students to practice sharing and group skills during our literacy and math centers. The students could work in groups to create podcasts, using the Ipod, about bullying in schools which could be broadcast to the class through our SMART BOard or to the entire school on the morning news.
We have been so blessed with fantastic technology to use in our classroom.
