My Students
The student population that I teach consists of children from Kindergarten through middle school who require social and emotional support as well as autistic students and students with multiple disabilities. However, if you were to meet the students at our school, you would see that their abilities far outshine their disabilities and given the proper support through academics and the arts, our students rise to the occasion and shine bright like stars. My students have the capability and the grit to express themselves musically. Now they just need the tools to do it.
My Project
Independent listening stations give students the ability to have some quiet listening time during the day. They will learn rhythms, pitch, melodies, and accompaniment through sound. Students will practice for performances like school plays and by singing while listening. The Listening Station will be set up in a comfortable corner where students can relax and use their imagination while the music takes them to different places. My students love listening to and dancing to music on a large social level but can benefit so much from being able to access it on a personal level. This project will give them that access!
