I teach all subjects to students with emotional disabilities in grades 6-8 in a high-need community.
My students are performing below grade level in reading and math. They have a difficult time remaining focused in most areas. They have showed an interest in expressing themselves through role playing and classroom performances.
This project will benefit my students in many ways. I need camcorders for the students to use in a variety of ways. They will use these camcorders to act out chapters of novels they read to show comprehension of what they read. The students will also be able to reteach a math lesson on the camera, download it onto the computer and put it into a PowerPoint presentation, and present it to students to demonstrate they mastered the skill. During our social skills lessons, the students will role play the skill of the week and record each other on the camera.
Your help will increase student motivation to want to learn new reading, writing, and math skills along with life long character traits that will help them be successful in the real world.
