My students need an equitable learning environment, where technology is readily available to impact each lesson. Hence, we need a multimedia projector in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow," said John Dewey. Unfortunately, my classroom now reflects the reality for many today, where lack of technology, both in quantity and quality, limits my ability as a teacher to fully impact my students' learning.
I teach at an elementary dual language classroom, made up of both Spanish-speaking students and English-only students.
The two groups interact academically and socially throughout the year while they help each other develop and nurture two languages. The majority of our students at our school come from Latino working-class families. In the mix, we often also have served poverty-stricken families. I have had students whose families are homeless and we have worked together as a community to offer them the services, support, and of utmost importance, a safe and equitable classroom environment where the children are offered what they need and deserve to focus solely on what's important- learning and their education.
My Project
A box-like gadget such as a multimedia projector sitting in a classroom might seem so simple at first, but once powered on, it has the ability to bring to life learning. I have learned, created, and collected numerous resources in my teacher's bag. These are, for the most part, saved in my computer and range from video-clips, websites, computer programs, and especially great PowerPoints. Unfortunately, for years now, these resources remain powerless in my computer due to the lack of a projector. Often our school projector is being utilized somehow and is not readily available. I have recently been working on creating engaging PowerPoints that correlate with the new language-arts program I will be implementing in my Kindergarten class. With the help of a projector, my students will be able to view these PowerPoints that will introduce to them vital concepts, vocabulary, and will present to them themes and subject matter in a captivating way.
The research about how technology plays a much needed role in the classroom to ensure student success is endless.
As a teacher, my role is to advocate for what I know is right. I know it is right and I am absolutely sure that a projector will make the greatest difference in the classroom. It is the one key I am missing to open the door to resources that I know will facilitate learning for my students. Please help me today offer them the type of learning they need to impact their tomorrow.
