I am extremely excited to be starting a photography club at our middle school. With this project, I want to provide my students with two entry-level Cannon cameras, a green screen to help with editing on backdrops, a different backdrop option, SD cards, and SD card readers to help transfer images to their devices.
My goal for this project is to help students learn to take meaningful, creative photographs and provide community service opportunities for my students through our club.
Our photography club will incorporate service learning by offering short mini-photography sessions to the community and work to highlight the history of our beloved town through photography. Students will design and bring to life the backdrops/backgrounds and will arrange their photo stations the way they want for different sessions. I also want to partner with community members to use still photography and portrait photography to showcase our town and tell its history and the history of the residents. This allows students to show their creativity and bring their visions to life once they have thought them up.
Our first focus will be on providing senior photos to some of our high school seniors, providing advertisements for our other new school clubs, and overall having a blast doing so. The students in my club chose photography out of many other club opportunities that were offered. They are individuals who have a heart for photography and a willingness to help others through their learning.
