We are a blessed group of students. Our children are all between the ages of 3 and 4 years old. They have all been diagnosed with different disabilities. All of them have goals related to developmental delays. They have trouble using their hands to grip items such as cars, small building blocks, and crayons. The majority of our students are autistic and Downs, and they require a lot of different activities. Most of them live in low-income apartment households.
With our children having a large range of disabilities, hands-on learning is very important.
Many of our students are non-verbal and have limited mobility. Using sensory and texture input is one important way for them to learn. The changing light table and accessories which I am requesting will give our students a sensory learning tool which can help them with their fine motor skills. It will also add a more comfortable way for our students to learn.
My Project
The table and manipulatives will provide an excellent sensory learning opportunity for our children.
The table will invite kids to learn with color and lights through hands-on manipulation.
It will also allow them to access new dimensions to learning. Many of our students are non-verbal and this will add a fun way for them to explore on their own. They will be able to feel and see objects in a brighter way.
We work daily to find ways of helping our students to succeed, and this will give them the excitement and ability to focus on a new learning tool that is fun for them.
