Our lessons will simply come to life with a Flip camera! Every day my students will be engaged in their lessons. They will be motivated to get involved and to talk about their learning, as well as become better readers, writers, and observers.
I teach a very diverse group of first graders in a suburban community in Texas.
My students come from so many diverse and socio-economic backgrounds. Half of my students have been identified as English being their second language and one third has been identified as 'at-risk'. The majority of my students do not have access to new technology and/or Internet at home. As a result, school is often the only opportunity these students have for learning the 21st century skills that are essential for this generation to succeed. We are blessed to have computers in our classroom, but are still behind with the newer technologies such as hand held devices. My students enjoy learning new skills and are very motivated by the opportunity to use technology. Sadly, the opportunity is not always available on a daily basis due to limitations in equipment and availability.
My Project
With this simple Flip camera, all of our lessons will become enhanced. The students will be motivated and engaged. They will record each other reading, giving oral reports and projects, sharing published writing, completing Science experiments, and recording data in their Science journals. We will be able to record special events/days that we participate in throughout the year, such as study trips, Buddy Day, Grandparents Day and more. We will be able to view the recorded events as we complete writing projects. All of the students in my classroom will benefit from a Flip camera. Every student will be involved and engaged in his/her learning. The Flip camera will be a big aid for my visual learners. Every lesson and special event will become more enhanced with the use of a Flip camera. Your help will greatly benefit my students' learning with technology.
By donating to my classroom project, you would not only be impacting the education of my current students, but also my future students.
In order for students in the 21st century to be successful, they need experience with as many technologies possible, as early as possible. With the addition of a Flip camera to my classroom inventory, my students would be highly engaged and motivated to learn on a daily basis.
