My Students

"All I need is a camera and I can make things happen," Keenan Ivory Wayans said. This certainly applies to all of my students, whether for an English, Public Speaking or Mass Media project. Video cameras allow for extra creativity and deeper learning. Help bring their creativity to life!

My high school students live in a rural northwestern community in which the school is one of the cultural centers of the town.

The students enjoy participating in extracurricular activities and spending time outdoors. They greatly enjoy working on group projects and love to show their creative sides, such as acting out scenes from a play or creating music videos. Due to our location, these students do not get many opportunities to venture to cities or have access to the latest technology. Having these camcorders, at least, will help to bridge the technology gap.

My Project

All of my students will benefit from these cameras. My English students will be able to create video presentations of plays and other literary works. This will aid in their understanding of the material. My Mass Media students can use these cameras to capture footage for their projects (such as commercials, music videos, newscasts, etc). Additionally, my Public Speaking students can use these cameras to video tape their speeches in order to correct mistakes and become a better public speaker.

These cameras would certainly give my students more opportunities to explore learning outside the classroom and away from simply using their textbooks.

They can bring stories to life, promote education to the community and learn to be confident in the real world!
