This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Working in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both inside and out of the classroom. Due to the many challenges they face, I strive to keep a high energy and fun learning classroom, allowing them to experience new things.
As their music teacher, I am constantly providing them with upbeat, fun and exciting opportunities they may not necessarily experience otherwise.
They love to sing, dance and play instruments, but we are very limited with our resources. I would love to be able to improve their music education and performance experience by giving them basic tools to help them succeed.
“Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed to music and must be educated in it.”
– Aristotle
My Project
Help my give my students an opportunity to shine musically! In the age of Covid-19, a LOT has changed in the classroom... ESPECIALLY in the music classroom. Teaching music looks very different than it did last year but I am finding new ways to be creative while providing similar experiences.
Our goal is to still have our annual performances, but this time, from a distance - VIRTUALLY!
With updated technology, a functioning microphone, new app development and more, a new laptop will make a BIG difference. Throughout the year I make on average about 5-8 videos for the school via iMovie. By having more advanced technology available, my students will be able to do more and have more advanced concerts and musical experiences.
We will be able to create more with all of the music apps and features a mac has to offer. My students will THRIVE as they can watch their performances and track their progress through their video journals curated through all the programs a Mac as to offer. They can record their videos at home and together we can transfer them in to musical masterpieces!
