My Project

My students are an amazingly diverse group of urban Californian students who love learning about science.

We push our students to accomplish big things. Science is a class which reminds students of their own curiosity and love of learning. My students are excited to learn about the world and understand all the strange and unique things about life on this planet.

I've been building Remotely Operated Vehicles with my students for the past ten years. Through many donations, we've been able to gather enough supplies to build them year after year. Unfortunately, the cameras we most recently bought are extremely glitchy and prone to failure. It's been an extremely difficult semester with many frustrated students who collected data they couldn't use. I'm hoping to bring our devices up to date. With these mini GoPros, students will get higher-quality data which they can use to analyze the ecosystem of local bodies of water. We used GoPros the very first year of this project, and I'm hopeful to upgrade our students' experience doing fieldwork with the right equipment.
