My Students

BHS fashion students are creative and driven!

Our students learn to stretch their brains creatively, apply geometry, analyze and use construction skills, and prepare for interesting career possibilities.

Students in grades 9-12 spend their year learning skills and building a variety of impressive garments. Fashion 1 works on learning to sew and creating an alternative materials project a la 'Junk Kouture'. Fashion 2 & 3 hone their drawing and construction skills, while Fashion 4 seniors spend the year designing and constructing a 'senior line'. There's nothing like seeing their pride and excitement at the annual fashion show.

We had to miss out on producing our annual show last spring when we suddenly pivoted remote, and it broke a lot of hearts. This year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot host our annual fashion show in the auditorium, but we want to make some form of show happen. An outdoor, filmed and virtually released show will be a whole new challenge. But the prospect of working as a team and having some much needed fun has lifted my students' spirits.

My Project

In order to bring some fun and normalcy to our school year, we are pivoting to an outdoor fashion show that will be filmed and released at a virtual premier. Some backdrop, set building and lighting supplies are needed to convert our courtyard into a set. Additionally, cleaning and Covid safety supplies are needed to keep our kids distanced and safe while they prepare 'backstage' at the make up and changing stations. The black masks will help us put on a safe but stylish show.

We need supplies for this year's 'new normal' fashion show, but all of these items can be used again for future photography and fashion projects.

I hope to reuse the backdrops, lights and black out fabric to set up a fashion photo booth in the classroom where the students can snap shots of their creations. This will help our seniors polish their portfolios and also allow us to bring the art of photography into our lessons.

Please help us celebrate the hard work that our students have put in despite a hybrid and remote schedule. It's time to celebrate their extraordinary achievements!
