My Students

As a veteran teacher at a Title 1 school located in a low-income/high-poverty community, I am well aware of the many challenges that my students face every day, both in and outside of the classroom. I am also aware of their enthusiasm for learning, their tremendous potential for high achievement, and their brilliant creativity.

My students shine brightest when they work creatively and collaboratively.

They demonstrate great pride in their work, celebrating their growth and improvement while challenging themselves and each other to exceed expectations.

My Project

We are starting a brand new school news/broadcast journalism program at our school that we expect will engage our entire school community. I am delighted that my students are so incredibly enthusiastic to begin this new experience! The essential items that we are requesting will help our broadcast program run more efficiently and professionally.

Having a green screen system and lighting kit will allow our student producers, reports, and anchors to have the real world experience of creating visually stunning school news programs and delivering their stories in a professional manner.

My students will not only learn a variety of transferable skills associated with the broadcast journalism profession, but they will also develop confidence and pride through their service as school ambassadors, both in the building and throughout the greater community. The green screen system, which also includes white and black background options, can also be used to create compelling student reflection videos, or photography sessions for all faculty and students (for our school website, yearbook, or promotional materials).

If we are fortunate enough to receive these items, I believe that our high quality work will attract other students as well as support from local, professional news outlets. We look forward to developing this new program at our school and helping our students realize their full creative and professional potential.
