Lights, Camera, Broadcast!: Creating an Efficient & Inspiring Production Studio

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our middle school production students are creative, dedicated, and enthusiastic, in addition to having a passion for storytelling! Our WVOV (Welcoming Voice of Vineland) teams present innovative newscasts, short films, and daily live streams of our morning announcements. These creative students create digital content that covers school events, educates peers, presents special topics, and engages in dialogue with our school family. The students develop multimedia presentations that highlight important issues such as hunger, homelessness and bullying, as well as promotional videos for clubs, athletic events, and charitable endeavors.

Little by little, our school has been able to update some of the production equipment, including lighting, sound mixer, and computers; however, we need a couple of tables, a rug, and signs to finish transforming our outdated production studio into an inspiring, organized, collaborative space.

The tables will house the teleprompter and computer, facilitating their use by the students. The rug will serve as a collaborative meeting and planning space that my middle school students will love, and the inspirational posters will put the finishing touches on our freshly painted classroom, surrounding the students with motivating sayings. The on-air sign will solve the problem of students opening the door to our studio during daily live broadcasts. I can't wait for my students to walk into our production studio on the first day of school, ready to work in this new creative space! Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity.
