My Students

Welcome to my music class! Every class period starts with listening to classical music, singing a song on syllables, and playing instruments. By the end of the year they should be singing on pitch and playing on the beat and know the difference between beat and rhythm.

I see about 350 students each day in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade for music class, with about 55 - 65 students in each class.

My small school district is supportive of music in the school with the number of Fine Arts teachers in our district. We have two band directors, two choir directors, a music teacher in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, and I teach the upper grades.

My Project

With the digital recorder I will be able to record my students singing. Then I can play it back for them, and they can hear if they are singing on pitch. Sometimes when we are learning a song, they don't hear the difference in one vowel sound or another. When they are recorded and it is played back to them, they can hear how they really sound. When they hear themselves I believe they will learn to listen better. Students always love to hear themselves!

This is a small district, and I don't have a huge budget to buy things like a recorder for my classroom.

This recorder will help the students to hear themselves, to make them better singers, and to prepare them for Junior High choir or band. It will help them listen to themselves with a better ear.
