Lights, Camera, Action In Literacy, Math And Science
My students need a digital camera and case to enhance their learning in writing, science and math. Pictures of the fun activities will be posted on our webpage for the parents to see.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is an elementary school located in an urban area. 95 percent of the students are economically disadvantaged (free/reduced lunch), and the surrounding neighborhood consists of duplex apartment complexes and single-family homes. The community is mostly of Hispanic and African-American descent. I teach 20 active, curious little minds. Parental involvement in my class is low because many parents work throughout the day. They get very excited when they see something new to use. I love their look of wonder when I teach!
My Project
The camera will help us take pictures of our fun filled activities and promote self-esteem. I would like to have my students incorporate their photos in their writing.
When they take a picture or I take a picture of them, with the help of the USB reader drive, I can project them on the promethean board and we can create stories.
They will also learn the difference between a real photograph and a make-believe picture. On our nature walk and field trips, the pictures will be great memories where we can go back, look, and observe the pictures that were taken. My students will have an opportunity to think critically while using the pictures.
The classroom camera will help me enhance the webpage with pictures of the students. That way the parents will have the opportunity to see our classroom come alive.
Thank you in advance for making our dream come true. My students will be happy to see their faces in the pictures and publish the pictures that they will be taking themselves which will bring them a sense of pride. I know my students will be smiling when they receive this donation.
