This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My photography students love photographing our community. They are often asked to photograph our sporting events, cultural celebrations, graduation, school dances, the spelling bee, etc. It's a hands on application of their learning. It brings them joy and pride to be able to provide a service and feel like their skills are needed and appreciated in our community. Their photographs of the community and events are displayed on the school television screens throughout the building and online. Our community members, students staff and families get so excited to see themselves reflected on the screen.
However, our young photographers struggle to get the best pictures they can with the equipment we have.
Many of our events are in not ideal lighting situations. The gym is dark, the cafeteria is badly lit, as well as the auditorium, library, etc. So often our events are in dark situations. The equipment requested are lenses that are good for low light and an on-camera flash that will also help with lighting. This equipment will give my students an opportunity to learn new skills & concepts through real life experience. Your donation will help my students take professional level, beautiful photographs of our community with the love and light they deserve!
