Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 3rd grade students in a low-income area at an art charter school that receives a lower amount of funding than public schools. My students enjoy learning about theater and music, but our budget does not include supplies for a musical theater program.

As with a final draft of written work, my students would truly benefit from seeing their theatrical works on screen. We have already put on various plays and started learning about music and how to implement into theatrical works. My students have showed a great interest in acting, singing and theater production.

I have the technology in place create a DVD of their works, but we need a classroom camcorder and mini DV tapes to produce the footage. My students will not only learn how to act in front of the camera but also learn how to direct, create sets and edit the film as well. These are great skills for our future Spielbergs and Coen directors.

Your donations will inspire the artistic side of my students. When the students know they are making something that will be shared with their family and friends, they add their heart and soul into the project. Thank you for inspiring the future. Now that's a WRAP!
