Help me give my students a musical Tesla Coil to show the students of Ogden how incredible science can be!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Physics students are the best! They have such positive attitudes and personalities.
Our school's vision statement of "As we build on traditions of the past, we expect and accept nothing but the best" says it all.
We have a beautiful mountain range and a history that is unique to the state and it sets the backdrop for us each day. Our students have many life-altering challenges to go through, but continue to push through. Our student population is one of the most impacted populations in our state. With a very high level of students on the free-or-reduced lunch program there can be many challenges to learning that many other students don't ever have to consider.
But we have an outstanding faculty, administration, and support staff that work tirelessly to help our students succeed and do their best. We embrace our vision, and embrace growth in Academics, Citizenship, and Extra-Curricular activities.
My Project
Students in Ogden need to see and experience amazing science! A company called oneTesla has been created that allows teachers and students to build electronic Tesla Coils from scratch. These Tesla Coils create 20 inch arcs of electricity that also are specific frequencies. Because each of these arcs are created at specific frequencies, they are able to create music. Students can make music with lightning!
This Tesla Coil will be experienced by hundreds of high school AND elementary school students.
The high school students will first study and experience the science behind this technology. Then those same students will have the opportunity to demonstrate this technology and other amazing feats of electricity to the classes at the Junior High and elementary level.
Several years ago I was able to incorporate one of these Tesla Coils into my music and physics classes. My music students wrote songs and pieces that were then played on the Tesla Coil. I got a lot of mileage out of that kit and now it is time to build on what we've learned and take this technology to many more students of the Ogden School District.
